Time to get "YOKED!"

According to the urban dictionary, Yoked is defined as very strong, well built, muscular body, fit. Example, "Wow, that guy is fucking yoked!" With Summer just around the corner and me resuming dancing duties in the Mile High, I have decided to challenge myself to get more YOKED! I would like to gain 10 pounds in 10 weeks. A pound a week, can't be too hard right? Well after completing my first week and steppin on the scale at the gym last night, I conclude it is much easier to lose weight, rather than gain it. My weight was lower than last week. UGH! I mean anyone can stuff their face with junk food and watch the pounds magically appear. To gain muscle, which weighs more than fat, will require work and determination. This is what I like to call #beastmode. I would say I eat healthy already, but to gain weight I need to eat MAS. No way am I gonna gain if I'm burning off more calories than I'm consuming.

My barber J. Cruz, who has been providing me, and occasionally my brothers with fades for over 10 years, also gives pointers on weight lifting/gym etiquette. Mr. Cruz has participated in MMA cage fighting for 5 years, and began wrestling/boxing since the age of 12. He has many years pumping iron and training, so his words come from experience. Today as he rid my head of 12 day hair outgrowth with his Oster clippers, we spoke about increasing my carb intake. His words to me, "U need to load up on carbs!" I left the barbershop lookin fresh-fade fly and with a plan. I will now eat carbs with every meal, double my portion/serving sizes, drink more protein shakes, lift heavier weight and decrease cardio. My body will soon become besties with brown rice, pasta, potatoes, whole milk, and more red meat. This in addition to cottage cheese, oatmeal, protein bars, tuna, and my all time fave chicken. :)

I'm a sucker for a sale and I got a hell-of-a deal last night on items from 24 hour fitness that will assist me in completing my goal. Muscle Milk is my protein drink of choice and newly discovered Apex FIT All natural brownie bars. Both these items are on sale now so I had to buy a couple boxes. Shout out to Elena, Group X instructor at 24hr for a sweat dripping Cardio, Step and Strength Interval class formerly known as 24 S.E.T. She is very motivating and encouraging and her numerous winks to me made me smile and push it to the limit. The music was on point last night, which made me imagine I was in the club. As I squatted and lunged, leaving my mark on the floor, I moved to the sounds of J.LO, Gaga, Rihanna, Britney and D. Guetta. My arse is throbbing and sore as I type this. No pain, no gain, right? RIGHT! My body is my temple, and sacrifices will be made.
